Nokia will close its plant in Romania
Nokia announced today that it will close its manufacturing plant in Romania. Nokia’s decision is not a surprise to anyone since the company announced earlier this year that it will start closing its manufacturing plants to centralize all the production in Asia. Closing this location will affect around 2200 employees. Nokia might also close the plants in USA and Germany, but this is not official yet.
Maybe a reduction in salaries was better than closing the plant in Romania. Moreover, they should’ve given the employees more time at least to find a new job. By a simple calculation if every worker has one financial dependent, they now have around 4400 person with no income.
I don’t want to be in the employees shoes. People want to work for giant multinational companies because they provide financial stability, but here it’s not the case.
